Seven ways to refresh your home for Spring!

Spring makes us feel full of renewed energy and vigour; ready to shake off those Winter cobwebs and make a fresh start! Whether you want to tackle a big project or just add a few new touches, here are some ideas for brightening and re-energizing your home and embracing that Springtime joy!

Refresh your bed
Switching your bed linen is a quick and easy way to make you feel Spring-fresh every morning and evening! Fresh pastels or bright hues bring the emerging colours of Spring into your bedroom and lighter weight fabrics and fills will make for a more comfortable nights sleep as the weather warms up.

Bring in the brights
In the depths of Winter we like rich colours, cozy blankets and warm textures but the change in season is a great opportunity to shed some of these Winter layers and lighten and brighten your living space. This is also an easy and cost effective fix – a few new cushions and throws can change how your whole room feels and how you feel in it!

Let in the light
Just as you pack away your Winter gear and bring out your Spring wardrobe, you can do the same for your drapes! Those warm Winter layers and colours can be shed to let in the Spring sunshine and embrace a lighter palette. Soft printed cottons and sheers or bright silks and bold patterns can make a huge difference to your room and to how you feel – soak in the vitamin D and feel energized!

Gorgeous greenery
Bringing in a little touch of freshness and beauty will fill you with all the joys of Spring! Include a vase of tulips or lilacs on your dining table, coffee table, or kitchen island or perhaps in the washroom or bedrooms. For those who have pets or allergies or busy schedules, a high quality faux arrangement will look fresh and beautiful year after year and you never have to remember to water it!

Aroma-therapy
Scents can have a profound effect on our sense of happiness and wellbeing so why not add a few candles to your home and enjoy breathing in your favourite fragrance. Choose something refreshing for energy, something calming for relaxation, or just something you love and makes you feel at home.

Clear out and deep clean
Spring cleaning is a time-honoured tradition! Its the perfect opportunity to clear out, de-clutter and reorganize followed by a “deep clean” to get rid of the built up dust, dirt, grit and grime that lurks in places we don’t see or that are difficult to reach. It feels good to sweep out the garage, hose off the patio furniture and pack up the Winter boots and coats.
